Garden Patience is a very early perennial leafy green that can be used raw in salads, or cooked like spinach. The leaves have a lemony flavour, but it is not as sour as sorrel. The young leaves have the best flavour. It's high in fibre, iron, and vitamins C & E. The seeds can also be used to make crackers or ground into a gluten free flour. It is related to wild dock species, rhubarb, and buckwheat.
The flower stalks can be cut off to encourage more leaf growth throughout summer. If allowed to flower, the striking plant stalks can get over 6 feet tall!
I've found Garden Patience to be quite drought tolerant. I have my plants in an unirrigated area that I water only occasionally with the hose. The plants will die back in the summer after flowering, but resprout with the autumn rains.

Ecologically Grown
Ecologically Grown
Seeds are grown ecologically without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers.

I got very good germination and ended up with lots of little plants I have added them to grow in large pots with other perennial vegetables. I did that to avoid the slugs which attack any small plant in my food forest. The taste is as described, slightly sour but not as sour as sorrel. It's ok so far.
I’ve been a repeat customer of Cicada seeds for a couple years and would recommend them to anyone who’s interested in rare and/or perennial vegetables. Always high germination rates, great customer service with a human touch. Not only do they know their stuff, they really care. 10 out of 10!
Love the minimal packaging, prompt service. The seeds all look great but I haven't planted any yet so I can't comment on the quality though I am expecting it to be 5/5.
