Annuals are plants that only survive for one year. Biennials survive for two years. They may self-seed and resprout in your garden year after year, such as miner's lettuce, mache, and orach.

Perennials that are usually grown as annuals in northern climates are also included here, such as tomatoes and ground cherries.
